The Leven was prepared to take us at short notice as we qualified under the current regulations. The bed was comfortable, the room and linen were clean, the shower worked, they took our dog and the member of staff we met was hospitable and friendly. So an entirely positive experience in the circumstances. But they delivered in a time of need so full marks just on that.

We were welcomed warmly and the table was set for us. Drinks were served promptly and refills available.

The restaurant was very quiet which was a shame, as it seemed a nice environment but maybe due to the current situation Covid 19 people are not making plans. All in all a relaxing time, chatty staff and lovely food - will definitely return. Date of stay: October Trip type: Travelled with family. Scott wrote a review Oct Great experience. Extremely welcoming and friendly place with great food. We stayed here for two nights in October and would recommend it. The staff Nathan, Ben, Tony, Ishbel couldn't have been friendlier and it was easy to book. We went for dinner, bed and breakfast, and found it was excellent value. The downstairs was all recently refurbished and very pleasant.

Upstairs was slightly more down at heel, but extremely clean and comfortable. We had room number 2, at the front, looking out onto the main square, where we had to park the car as the hotel doesn't have its own car park. This is not a problem as the town car park is free, although might be trickier on market days. We were up early anyway but if you want a lie in, you should ask for a room at the back as the town square gets going fairly early. It was a large and comfortable room with a big bathroom. The shower could have been a bit more powerful but nothing to complain about.

We were really impressed with the quality of the food - the menu was not extensive but everything we had was perfectly cooked.

Shame it was closed What a fantastic structure, really well maintained and in good condition. Area was fenced off possibly due to high winds?

My wife was a massive Jimmy Nail fan and this was on our must do list easily accessible on foot from the centre, area is being revamped as well. Date of experience: August Helpful Share. A bridge that spans a huge river and has mechanical moving parts, not to mention a car ferry. Very cool bridge! Sadly it was closed. Family were visiting and they had never been across the Tees Transporter Bridge so decided to go. It is an impressive structure and worth seeing. I think it may lead to something really great. I like the idea of matching people according to their interests and not asking too many questions. Photo albums are also very convenient. Hope I can actually find someone good for me.
