However need more attention to the bedding, I had bitten quite a lot by the bed bugs. Also, it will be great if the common area can be brighten further. In general, a therapuetic experience with serenity. Staff are approachable and helpful. Service is prompt, sincere and heart-warming. We like the setup of the room especially the couch and functional humidifier.

The food is fresh and clean, not oily or salty. A truly stress-free environment for retreats and tranquility purpose. I was not happy to have people smoking in the hotel. They were smoking in th restaurant, lobby and lifts. This is not a quality standard. The smokers also left their cigarette butts on the quality clean floors! A very pleasant less hurried Chinese city. The people were friendly and helpful although their knowledge of English was limited.

The traffic is chaotic and people are not very friendly. Accommodation and food prices are not cheap either. Haikou is a great city now, with lots of new developments, malls and places for entertainment. The theatre for the famous director Chang I-mou's famous stage performance, with lights, sounds and high-tech props is worth visiting.

The city preserves its traditional looks, and can match with most big cities in the developing world with its amenities. Transportation is quite convenient, but could be quite noisy with a lot of drivers and motorcyclists applying their horns all the time. The inhabitants are generally helpful although rather reserved and not communicative. Hainan University and the airport are not too far away. The former has a beautiful campus with lakes, and it leads to the seaside, too.

We like the Qilou Snack Street which has an interesting architecture. The place is very lively on Friday and Saturday nights. Around this place, we found some local shopping malls which offer quite good choices in terms of local and international brands. Although the prices are not very cheap but is still affordable. We took a high speed train to Sanya and Yalong bay and the journey took around 2 hours.

Make sure you understand Chinese or else it is hard to get around, or have something to show where you want to go. A city with quite a big population who speak mainly mandarin and hainanese very loudly. The people on the streets are generally quite friendly but not most of the sales persons in the malls, and the eateries in the malls close quite early. The prices in the new shopping malls are rather high as compared to the other cities of China e. Haikou is a small city which can be completed in around 2 days. Interesting place to visit, Volcano park, Impression of Hainan. Could be better in terms of maintenance. Traffic is pretty bad and the streets are quite dirty.

Not good for young and old people. There are beaches and sports amenities. Places are green with lot of parks.
